BMW Compact (E36) Clock

Good or Bad: ★

Recently we switched to winter time so clocks all over the place needed changing. This is in my girlfriend’s car.

Simple interface. No need to be any more complicated.
Excellent visual and aural feedback.
Graduated acceleration well weighted.
Am also keen on the interface design – simple face, good contrast for contantly varying light conditions.

Rock Band iPhone

Good or Bad: ★

How I came to it:

Rahul: Rock Band on iPhone. Most polished game on the platform?
Buying now. Hope it doesn’t run like a dog on my phone.
That’s a really really good game. Playable. Fun. Most surprising of all – responsive. Turns the iPhone into an almost feasible gaming option in my opinion. Just getting the basics like transitions right makes all the difference. Thanks for the tip.

I must apologise for saying ‘you get the score at the end’. But I think you know what I mean.

And any missed notes were purely to demonstrate the ‘fail’ system.

Two friends of ours very thoughtfully sent us a housewarming present . Neither of us were in to take delivery so a card was left. The next day I headed down to Die Post to pick it up. Waited in the queue a little while and then received a large box. No picture I’m afraid but it was well-packed and the contents weren’t in danger of being damaged.

Vinexus order

This is the good bit.

I took these photos and sent them to our friends. This was the reply.

“…look at that perfectly written note! There was no option for a message in the ordering, so I put the request in the “Any other information” box – and, hey presto, flawless execution! And this is in a foreign language to them! Had this been the UK, the provider would have delivered late, at a bad time when you weren’t in, and taken it back to the warehouse, informing neither you nor me, and the note would have been printed, not hand-written, and addressed to “Mrs Daniel Lewington”.”

It’s really not a very big thing but this note plus the very competitive price has meant repeat purchases over and over again. If you’re thinking about sending wine it would seem the Vinexus are worth a visit.

We come across things every day that we think are great. Work in the way we want, look super, feel right...that sort of thing.

We also come across things every day that don't quite work the way we would like.

These aren't necessarily massive things. But they tend to be the things that make people buy something again or try something different.

Work Profiles

What Am I Up To?

I, Daniel Lewington, live in London again and work at Apsmart. I spent last year in Hamburg with my partner, learning German and working at SinnerSchrader. It was great but then the Apsmart thing came up and I couldn't turn it down.

Great decision.

And before Germany, I'd been living in London (about 15 years) working for a number product/service/interaction/online design agencies. There's more information on the other pages.

Or you can look at my LinkedIn and/or Xing profiles.

When not working travel, play football, cycle, swim and see friends. Life stuff.

Polite of Cameron to send congrats Obama. Wonder if that was the result he was hoping for?

Must not enjoy footage of Republicans crying. Can't help wondering if they display the same sorrow with regard to social inequality.

Got a few new followers after Creative Mornings. Thanks for coming along. Hope it was worth it. If not, at least there were croissants.
